Gabrielle Edwards
Top Ranking Junior Triathlon Champion in Canada

Genki Bar® is pleased to sponsor 16-year-old Saskatchewan triathlon athlete and future Olympian (we’re sure), Gabrielle Edwards. Her impressive race record propelled her into Junior Elite Competition at age 15! Gabrielle was selected to represent Team Canada in the 3000m track event in the 2010 Youth Olympic in Singapore. We are so proud of our young star.

Gabrielle has been participating in triathlon for about eight years, and competing seriously for the past five. In 2009, although still just 15, she was selected to race in the Junior Elite (16-19 year old) category placing second at the 2009 Junior Elite National Championships in Gatineau, Quebec. She is the first 15 year old to be granted approval by Triathlon Canada to race up in the junior category, Edwards is now ranked fourth in the country in that category and has her sights set on the 2016 Olympics. She placed second in the 3000 metres at the 2009 Youth Nationals in Sherbrooke, Quebec and for a further change of pace she competes in cross country where she is ranked number one in the province of Saskatchewan.

Jessica Biggs

Never one to miss an opportunity, Jessica Biggs took up the sport of biathlon when it was offered to her some seven years ago through the Air Cadet program. Now, after five years on the Provincial Junior team and with the experience of the 2011 Canada Winter Games behind her, she has her aim set squarely on qualifying for the 2013 University Games. She feels confident she can make the team as she has been competing against the field for the past few years.

Jessica trains as part of a high performance team that has 10 members, eight of whom represented Manitoba at the Canada Games. Sustained energy throughout a race is essential for these biathletes and a rapid heart rate response is critical for accurate shooting. Jessica has been training with Genki Bar and finds it light in the stomach. She has been using the bar pre and post training and has had no problems with cramping. She finds it provides her with sustained energy and she loves the berry flavour!
